The Global State Authority is segregated into four classes: Owners, Employables, Semi‑Employables and Unemployables – Owns, Ems, Sems and Uns.
Information is state rationed. Each tier must watch the others in a world where ‘informing’ is considered more useful than ‘being informed’.
If you’re an Owner, fraternisation with other classes is a crime. Love your servant and you risk arrest, torture, exile to a ghetto – or death.
